After closing two deals in the past three months that more than doubled its footprint, Suddenlink Communications -- the St. Louis-based cable operator headed by longtime cable executive Jerry Kent -- and its parent, Cequel III, reshuffled some of its management.
Suddenlink, formerly Cebridge Connections, completed the acquisition of 240,000 subscribers in West Virginia from Charter Communications July 1. In May, it closed a deal to purchase 940,000 customers in nine states from Cox Communications.
According to a press release, Suddenlink chief operating officer Dave Rozzelle was named executive vice president and assistant to the CEO for Cequel III. In this position, he will be responsible for a range of special projects and will work directly with Kent, who is also Cequel III CEO.
Replacing Rozzelle as Suddenlink COO -- and adding the title of executive VP -- is Tom McMillin, who joined the company in February as chief financial officer.
In addition, Mary Meduski has been named executive VP and CFO of Suddenlink. She had previously served as CFO of AAT Communications, the communications-tower company Cequel sold earlier this year to SBA Communications.
Suddenlink also announced the following promotions: Terry Cordova, formerly senior VP of engineering, was named senior VP and chief technology officer; Mike Wylie was promoted to senior VP and chief accounting officer; Kevin Stephens was named senior VP, commercial and advertising operations earlier this year; and Mike Pflantz was promoted to VP and corporate controller.
In addition, Dave Gilles was named VP of operations for Suddenlink’s west Texas region, replacing Connie Wharton, who left to pursue another opportunity; and Keith Crossley was named VP of operations for Suddenlink’s Pacific region, replacing Gilles.
“Our companies have experienced tremendous change this year, with the sale of a tower company and two major cable acquisitions,” Kent said in a prepared statement. “As we open this new chapter in our history, we have taken a fresh look at our management team and the unique skills the members of that team bring to the table. These changes and promotions are a result of that analysis.”
