EchoStar Communications Corp. confirmed Friday that high levels of solar
activity temporarily disrupted its broadcast operations overnight Thursday.
The flares affected an undisclosed number of transponders on the
direct-broadcast satellite company's birds at 119 degrees west longitude. All of
the channels were up and running by Friday morning, a spokesman
said.
