Sundance to Bow TransGeneration on PlanetOut

Sundance Channel will launch new original series TransGeneration on PlanetOut Inc.’s PlanetOut Video broadband-entertainment service.

PlanetOut Video is aimed at providing LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) audiences with multimedia programming from TV networks, movie studios, independent film producers and individual artists.

The company said the service will be available on Gay.com (www.gay.com) and PlanetOut.com (www.planetout.com), which have a combined monthly reach of more than 5 million unique visitors.

Eight-part documentary series TransGeneration -- a Sundance production in association with MTV Networks' Logo, which will broadcast the series in early 2006 -- will debut on PlanetOut Video prior to its television debut on Sundance Sept. 20.

“We chose PlanetOut as our strategic marketing partner and online host for the premiere of episode one of TransGeneration because of their deep reach in the LGBT market, their success in building unique, interactive programming and their ability to support a fully integrated campaign to this discerning audience," Sundance senior vice president of marketing Kirk Iwanowski said in a prepared statement.

"Sundance Channel looks forward to building this multifaceted relationship with PlanetOut beyond the launch of this series," he added.
