Sundance Eyes Doc Digi-Net

Sundance Channel will devote most of its Monday schedule to documentaries starting March 3, prior to launching a digital-cable service devoted to the genre.

Sundance's digital Documentary Channel has not set a launch date, but officials anticipate a debut around next summer.

The digi-net will be incubated on Sundance with a Monday "DOCday" schedule extending from noon to midnight, highlighted by at least one primetime premiere each week.

On tap for the opening edition: The Trials of Henry Kissinger, based on the controversial Christopher Hitchens book, and a 2002 documentary-film year-in-review special.
