NEW YORK -Premium television service Sundance Channel said it expects to reach 40 million homes by the end of this year, nearly double its current distribution.
The expansion is fueled by the growth of digital affiliation deals with Comcast Corp. and Charter Communications Inc. The company said it plans to end the year with about 10 million subscribers.
To date, Sundance has reached digital affiliation agreements with five MSOs, including AT&T Broadband, Cox Communications Inc. and Time Warner Cable.
The company said its year-end distribution figures show a 58 percent increase in the total number of available cable homes. Direct-broadcast satellite also reported robust gains for the service by posting 100 percent increases in subscriber numbers.
