While most eyes were focused on the New England Patriots and Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl XXXVIII — or Janet Jackson's breast-baring performance during halftime of the National Football League's championship game — Lifetime Television grabbed the highest ratings in basic cable during primetime Sunday night.

Lifetime executives said the network averaged a 2.1 household rating during primetime Feb. 1, easily beating the 1.4 registered by A&E Network and Turner Network Television.

Kids' networks fell next in line: Nickelodeon pulled a 1.3, while Cartoon Network and Disney Channel each generated a 1.2.

Lifetime — which ran part one of the film Dead by Sunset from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and the second half of the movie from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. — was also tops among women 18 to 49 and 25 to 54, according to its analysis of Nielsen Media Research data.

TNT said its Charmed marathon made it the No. 1 basic-cable network against the Super Bowl from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. among adults 18 to 34, 18 to 49 and 25 to 54.
