Syfy To Develop ‘Dark Matter’ Series

Syfy will develop an original, space-themed series Dark Matter for debut in 2015, the network announced Wednesday.

The 13-episode series, based on a graphic novel Dark Matter by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie (Stargate), follows the crew of a derelict spaceship that is awakened from stasis with no memories of who they are or how they got on board, but have to work together to survive.

Dark Matter will be produced by Prodigy Pictures and will air on Syfy in 2015.

Dark Matter is a refreshing and entertaining space opera that blends an intriguing premise with fast-paced suspense, said Chris Regina, senior vice president of programming for Syfy. “It will be a terrific addition to our prime time schedule next year.”
