Syfy’s ‘Defiance’ Draws 2.7 Million Viewers

Drama Series Averages 1.3 Million Adults 18-49

Syfy’s drama series Defiance didn’t break network ratings records but performed admirably in its Monday night premiere.

The much-hyped series, which also features a video game application, averaged 2.7 million viewers during its two-hour April 15 debut – the biggest debut for a network series since Warehouse 13 drew 3.5 million viewers in 2006, according to network officials.

The series, which takes place 33 years after an alien invasion of Earth in a town set among the ruins of St. Louis, also drew 1.3 million adult 18-49 viewers. That’s the most viewers in the demo for a Syfy premiere since Eureka’s 1.7 million viewer debut in 2006.

Online, Defiance is now’s best series premiere day ever in terms of uniques, page views and visits, according to Syfy. On the video game front, the Defiance game has seen players log more than six million hours of gameplay since its launch on April 2.
