Syfy Upfront To Soar With 'Spider-Man' On Broadway

Syfy will look to extend its upfront web on the Great White Way next month.
Executives for the NBCUniversal service will make their presentation to media buyers on March 22 in New York's Foxwoods Theatre, before giving way to the venue's chief tenants, the cast of Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark. Following the upfront activities tentatively scheduled to start after 5 p.m., attendees will get a chance to see the much-delayed and controversial show, just a week after it's finally set to open on March 15.
Syfy is a lead media partner for the play, which features music and lyrics by U2's Bono and The Edge of U2, direction by Tony Award-winner Julie Taymor (The Tempest, Across The Universe, The Lion King), and the book co-written by Taymor and Glen Berger (Underneath The Lintel).
Elements of the partnership include sweepstakes, special promotions, regional affiliate partnerships and media exposure.
"We are thrilled to share the stage with the most ambitious Broadway show ever," said Syfy and Chiller president Dave Howe in announcing the upfront showcase. "The inspired vision of this production is perfectly aligned with Syfy's continuing commitment to scaling greater flights of imagination. As our advertising partners will see first hand, with great programming comes great opportunity!"
