Former VH1 president John Sykes is headed back to MTV Networks, where he is expected to develop new cable networks.
Parent company Viacom Inc. announced late Thursday that Sykes will take a new role at MTVN, “overseeing the development and launch of new branded television networks.”
Viacom said it would detail Sykes’ position “shortly.”
Sykes left VH1 in March 2002 to take over Infinity Broadcasting Corp. as chairman and CEO. Viacom said Thursday that it promoted Joel Hollander to chairman and CEO at Infinity, effective immediately.
Sykes first joined VH1 as president in March 1994. He first worked for MTVN in the early 1980s, as director of promotion.
