Synacor Hires Ex-Yahoo Exec Singh

Web portal provider Synacor named former Yahoo executive C.J. Singh as vice president of product and engineering.

Singh previously spent three years as director of engineering and product development with Yahoo, where he was responsible for the company's development centers in Latin America. Prior to that, he was a senior principal engineer with Oracle, where he worked on the company's E-Business Suite.

In July, Synacor hired Tim Peterman, formerly senior vice president of interactive media for Scripps Networks Interactive, as chief operating officer.

Singh began his career in 1997 as a team leader for HCL Perot Systems in his native India. He has a computer science degree from Gulbarga University in India and a masters in information systems management from Carnegie Mellon University.

Synacor's cable customers include Time Warner Cable, Charter Communications, Bresnan Communications and Mediacom Communications.
