Synacor has hired Michael Bishara, previously in charge of HBO's broadband products, as vice president and general manager of TV Everywhere.
Most recently, Bishara was senior vice president of HBO's Broadband / Digital Group, where he was responsible for the overall strategy, development and rollout of broadband products, including the HBO Go authentication product. Prior to HBO, Bishara worked at Time Inc. and AT&T in marketing and product leadership roles.
"We are excited to have Michael Bishara, a TV Everywhere expert, join Synacor as we continue rolling out our technology platform to MVPDs [multichannel video programming distributors], wireless carriers, consumer electronics manufacturers and programmers," Synacor CEO Ron Frankel said in a statement.
Bishara was recognized in Multichannel News' 2010 "40 Under 40" class up-and-coming industry executives.
Buffalo, N.Y.-based Synacor went public last month, raising $23.3 million after the company had previously anticipated raising up to $75 million. The company's stock closed up 5% on its first day of trading, to $5.25 per share, and has climbed this week to $7.26 per share on several positive analyst reports.
Synacor, a provider of Web portal and TV Everywhere solutions to service providers and consumer electronics companies, expects revenue to grow 33% to 36% this year, it said last week in announcing its first financial results as a public company.
