Synacor, a provider of Web portal software and services, has tapped former Scripps Networks interactive executive Tim Peterman to be chief operating officer.
Peterman most recently was senior vice president of interactive media for Scripps Network's interactive division. Before that he spent three years at IAC/InterActiveCorp., where his roles included serving as chief financial officer of the e-commerce division, which included HSN at the time, and the company's cable division, which then included USA Network and Sci Fi Channel, the NBC Universal network now known as Syfy.
He also has held financial management positions with Tribune and Sinclair Broadcasting, and began his career at accounting firm KPMG Peat Marwick.
"Tim Peterman has the executive skills, the industry knowledge and the track record of success that will maximize the value of Synacor's solutions for our customers and our partners," Synacor president and CEO Ron Frankel said in announcing his hiring.
