Systems Poised for Local Weatherscan Ad Sales

Comcast Corp. in Atlanta and Cox Communications Inc. in Gainesville, Fla., are among the first cable systems offering local advertising avails on Weatherscan, The Weather Channel’s all-local network.

Comcast Spotlight in Atlanta is pitching Weatherscan to key clients, while the area interconnect is using the service for solicitation spots to position local ad buys on cable against radio and newspapers.

Cox is currently inserting marketing messages on the network as it prepares to sell ads.

Weatherscan has nearly 8 million subscribers.
