Starz Encore Group LLC chairman and CEO John Sie will be honored Wednesday at the 11th Annual T. Howard Foundation Fund-Raising Dinner in New York.
The foundation -- which places minority students from colleges around the country in summer internships within the direct-broadcast satellite and cable-television industries -- will honor Sie for his efforts and achievements in support of diversity within the telecommunications industry, T. Howard president Curtis Symonds said.
The foundation will also award its first-ever "Taylor Howard Lifetime Achievement Award" to Black Entertainment Television cofounder and philanthropist Sheila Johnson for her contributions to the industry, as well as for her community activities.
Over the past decade, T. Howard has recruited nearly 150 students from various colleges around the country -- including historically black colleges and universities -- for paid summer internships. Symonds said the foundation hopes to announce at the dinner the placement of an additional 54 internships this year.
