Tandberg Television said Monday that it will debut its "Intelligent Compression Engine" at the National Association of Broadcasters’ annual convention April 17-22 in Las Vegas.

The vendor said its ICE is a video- and audio-compression platform that provides a flexible and upgradeable solution for high-quality implementations of Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Media 9 Series and MPEG-4 (Moving Picture Expert Group) part 10 (H.264/AVC) technologies.

The ICE card is included in Tandberg’s new "EN5930" MPEG-4 part 10 advanced video encoder, which will also be launched at the NAB confab, and in its "EN5920" hardware platform for Windows Media 9.

"The opportunity to save between 30%-60% of bandwidth means that these ground-breaking advanced compression technologies are opening up new content-delivery opportunities and enabling innovative ways of entertaining and informing the consumer," Tandberg CEO Eric Cooney said in a prepared statement.
