Tandberg Buys GoldPocket

Tandberg Television Inc. thrust itself into the interactive-TV-software space, announcing a deal to buy GoldPocket Interactive Inc. for $78.5 million.

Tandberg -- which historically has made broadcast gear for the European TV market -- and recently purchased video-on-demand-software company N2 Broadband Inc. now have a major stake in the interactive-TV space.

GoldPocket’s software is used by dozens of programmers to create, manage and deliver interactive media. Its client base includes Time Warner Inc., DirecTV Inc., Fox Broadcasting Co., NBC Universal and News Corp.
