Tankosic Joins MAGNA Global Entertainment

MAGNA Global Entertainment named Cathy Tankosic, a veteran of Comedy Central and MTV Networks, executive vice president, officials said Thursday.

In this new position, Tankosic will look for new ways of creating branded entertainment content. She will work with clients across multiple media platforms, building new relationships, new businesses and expanding MAGNA Entertainment’s existing portfolio.

Tankosic will be based in the company’s New York headquarters, and she is MAGNA Global Entertainment president Bill Hilary’s first executive appointment since he joined the company last August.

In 2005, Tankosic joined MTVN, where she served as senior VP, head of marketing and creative for the URGE digital-music store, where she was a key member of the launch team.

Most recently, she served as a marketing consultant for CBS.

From 1991-2004, Tankosic worked at Comedy Central, rising to the position of senior VP, head of marketing and creative. In that role, she was responsible for marketing, on-air promotion, advertising and creative services.

Tankosic rebranded the channel, managed the brand across all lines of business and launched and supported all channel series and franchises including Chappelle’s Show, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, South Park, Crank Yankers, Drawn Together and Reno 911!. During her tenure, she was also VP of marketing and director of sales and market development.

Tankosic started her career at USA Network in strategic planning before moving on to Financial News Network and then joining Comedy.
