Tanya Van Court-Cayo

TITLE: Vice President, General Manager, ESPN Broadband and Interactive Television

WHY WE'RE WATCHING: Moving from Cablevision's Optimum Voice camp, Van Court-Cayo is now overseeing ESPN360 (formerly ESPN Broadband), which aims to sate sports fans' appetites in the high-speed and interactive arenas.

SCORE ON 2004: “I joined ESPN in April and launched our new product, ESPN360, a rich media, interactive, and gaming application this January. I was designated a Betsy Magness Fellow for the 2004-2005 WICT class, and became a board member of the New York Urban League and the President's Advisory Council of the Rochester Institute of Technology.”

WHAT'S NEXT: “We'll evolve ESPN360 to make it an award-winning industry leader in the broadband space, and transform the nascent ITV space by developing compelling next-generation applications with our partners.”

DRIVE IN 2005: “My goal is to help ESPN leverage all of our interactive technologies to increase the universe of fans that touch our products every day.”

EXECUTIVE EVOLUTION: “ESPN has created a culture that truly cares about issues of women and diversity … If we find that we are working in a place where we are compromising our values, we have to appreciate our self-worth enough to know that there are other places where we are welcome in the starting lineup. Maya Angelou's poem Phenomenal Woman says: 'Men themselves have wondered/What they see in me./They try so much/But they can't touch/My inner mystery.' My hope is that all women can tap into their inner mystery, and not try to conform to tenets and behaviors that conflict with who we are as women.”

AT HOME, AT PLAY: “I love to go to sporting events with my husband, Frantz Cayo (another ESPNer), travel, collect international art and read international literature. We are due to have our first child in May!”
