In her first staff appointment, new Federal Communications Commission member Deborah Taylor Tate Wednesday named Aaron Goldberger as one of her legal advisers, although his exact duties were not disclosed.

Goldberger has been acting deputy director of the FCC's office of legislative affairs and, prior to that, special counsel and legal adviser to the chief of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau.

Republican Tate, sworn in Tuesday, did not say in her statement whether Goldberger would advise her on media or telecommunications issues.
