TCA: Ovation Sets Two Original Shows

Art and contemporary culture-themed network Ovation will premiere two originally-produced shows beginning later this month, the network announced during its Aug. 8 Television Critics Association summer tour session.
The network on Aug. 16 will premiere Scenic Route, a series starring journalist David Keeps who takes viewers around the country to several cultural treasures that lie off the beaten track, according to Kris Slava, senior vice president of programming for Ovation.
On Sept. 27, the network will premiere documentary film Faces of a Vanishing World - Joey Lawrence. The film features the exploits of 19-year old photographer Joey Lawrence who leaves his fast-moving entertainment-based photography career behind to capture images of ancient tribes that are on the verge of extinction, according to Slava.
"Our programming mandate is to make sure everything on our air is smart, surprising and fun, and these two original shows are certainly excellent examples," said Kris Slava, senior vice president of programming for Ovation. "We are unique on the tour as Ovation is the only television channel focused on the art and contemporary culture category. We've reached the 42 million mark in our distribution, are growing rapidly, and completed production on two very engaging new originals so we felt the timing was right."
