Telemundo Scores 2019 Copa America TV Rights

As Telemundo continues to draw big World Cup ratings, the network Monday secured Spanish-language U.S. TV rights to the 2019 Copa America soccer tournament. 

Telemundo Deportes has teamed with South America soccer ruling body Conmebol to for rights to the 46 Copa America international men’s soccer championship, according to Telemundo. The 2015 tournament, in Chile, was shown on BeIN Sports in the USA.

“We are extremely pleased to join forces with Conmebol and the Copa America tournament,” said Ray Warren, President, Telemundo Deportes, in a release. “It is a world class event and perfectly aligns with our approach to partner with owners of the biggest and best global sporting events to bring them to our Spanish-language audience in the U.S.”

Telemundo Deportes’ broadcast of the 2018 FIFA World Cup has reached more than 30 million viewers through the first two weeks, and has accounted for more than 1.6 billion streaming minutes, including the four most live-streamed events in Spanish-language history, according to the network.
