Telemundo Top Spanish-Language Net On Sunday Night With Soccer Coverage

Telemundo's coverage of Mexican soccer league championship contest helped make it the top Spanish-language broadcast network among a number of key demos in primetime on Sunday.
Led by its Futbol Estelar coverage, in which Monterrey beat Santos 3-0, Telemundo averaged 1.3 million persons 18 to 49, 785,000 persons 18 to 34, 516,000 guys 18 to 34 and 834,000 males 18 to 49 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Dec. 5, according to Nielsen data.
From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Telemundo beat the combined deliveries of Univision, which included original program, El Gran Show, and TeleFutura among persons 18 to 49 (4%, 1.74 million vs. 1.66 million); males 18 to 49 (46%, 1.24 million vs. 850,000); persons 18 to 34 (4%, 1.06 million vs. 1.02 million) and guys 18 to 34 (51%, 772,000 vs. 511,000).
For its game presentation from 6:55 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., the Apertura 2010 Championship now stands as the network's best ever Futbol Liga Mexicana match, not involving Chivas, among persons 18 to 49 (1.65 million); males 18 to 49 (1.18 million); persons 18 to 34 (1 million); guys 18 to 34 (729,000); and viewers (2.4 million).
On cume basis, the match was seen by nearly 4.7 million viewers that watched for at least six minutes, including 3.1 million18-to-49 watchers.
