The Tennis Channel is lining up a host of new playing partners Friday.
Executives said the fledgling sports network will put its first serves to
viewers in 16 new markets Aug. 1 via rollouts stemming from distribution deals
with Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications Inc. and Knology Inc.
Starting Friday, the network, which debuted May 15, will be distributed on
Time Warner in Minneapolis; Cincinnati; Memphis, Tenn.; Greensboro and
Winston-Salem, N.C.; and Waco, Texas.
Tennis will also launch on Cox systems serving Baton Rouge, La. and
Pensacola, Fla., and bow on Knology systems in Knoxville, Tenn.; Huntsville and
Montgomery, Ala.; Charleston, S.C.; Augusta, Columbus and West Point Valley,
Ga.; and Panama City, Fla.
The launches come amid the network’s 'Summer Title Wave' programming blitz, a
seven week-span through Aug. 23 during which the service will air live and taped
coverage of 12 events including this weekend’s Legg Mason Tennis Classic in
