Terayon, Juniper Team Up

Terayon Communication Systems Inc. and Juniper Networks Inc. will team up to create new, more flexible network architectures for delivering broadband services over cable networks, the two vendors said Wednesday.

The alliance will combine Juniper’s high-performance Internet-protocol edge-routing platforms with Terayon’s Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification 2.0-qualified “BW 3500” cable-modem-termination system.

The two companies are aiming to ensure seamless interoperability between the edge-routing platforms and the CMTS, as well as to validate new virtual-private-network services and application-based routing and tunneling capabilities.

The architecture is currently in trials with several international cable operators, Terayon and Juniper said.
