A strong ray of revenue sunshine brightened Terayon Communication Systems Inc.'s third-quarter earnings, with revenue jumping 54% over last year, from $24.5 million to $37.6 million, as well as 23% sequentially.
But the company still posted a net loss in the quarter of $7.2 million versus $16 million in third-quarter 2002.
Terayon executives pointed to increased sales of Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification 2.0 gear and digital-video equipment. "We are encouraged by an improving trend in cable-operator capital spending," CEO Zaki Rakib said in a prepared statement.
Terayon expects revenue to reach $40 million-$43 million in the fourth quarter.
