Terayon Strikes Cox Arizona Modem Deal


Terayon Communication Systems Inc. nailed down another cable-modem deal with
Cox Communications Inc., gaining selection by the MSO as a primary supplier for
its Arizona cable systems.

While not an exclusive commitment, the deal does call for Terayon to provide
Cox Arizona with its "Terajet 715x" cable modems through the end of the year,
with an option to extend the deal in 2004 and 2005. Cox started deploying
Terayon modems in Phoenix last August.

The Terajet 715x is a Data over Cable Service Interface Specification
2.0-certified modem, the latest in the "TJ700" series. So far, Terayon has
shipped more than 300,000 TJ 700-series modems to top cablers in the United

"The Terayon modem gives us a proven DOCSIS 2.0 cable modem to meet the
growing demand for 'Cox High Speed Internet' broadband service throughout
Arizona," said Ike Wells, vice president of field operations for Cox Phoenix, in
a release.

"The deployment of DOCSIS 2.0-certified modems gives us an embedded base to
support new DOCSIS 2.0-enabled broadband services in the future without having
to swap them out for an upgrade," he added.
