Time Warner Cable To Consolidate Northeast Sales Operations In Albany

Time Warner Cable has picked Albany, N.Y., as the future site of its Northeast Sales Operations Center and plans to hire at least 50 new employees and relocate more than 135 professional positions to the area from across its Northeast footprint.

The Northeast Sales Operations Center will serve residential customers in upstate New York, Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Time Warner Cable has signed a long-term lease for an 85,000-square-foot building at 337 New Karner Road in Colonie, N.Y. The lease of the vacant structure, along with extensive renovation plans. will result in an economic investment of more than $10 million.

The 50 new positions include sales, administrative, information technology and human resources professionals to support the operation. The company expects the new center to be operational later this year, with full transition finalized by early 2012, eventually employing more than 400 people.

Time Warner Cable said it selected the Albany location for its Northeast center because of favorable real estate costs, ease of travel and an "accommodating environment for the company's sales market leadership."

"Time Warner Cable is excited to develop this location into a sales facility that will serve all of our customers in the Northeast and we look forward to fulfilling the initial 100 jobs over the next four to five months," TWC area vice president of Albany operations John Quigley said in a statement.

Time Warner Cable currently employs more than 1,200 locally in the Albany-area Capital District and more than 9,100 across New York State.

The Northeast division is part of Time Warner Cable's East Region, which has more than 17,000 employees and serves more than 5.9 million residential and business customers in nine states: Alabama, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
