Time Warner Cable has netted a rights deal with Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas franchise.
This season, the MSO’s local service Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, will air 22 FC Dallas regular-season matches on channel 185 (standard-definition) and channel 148 (high-definition) in Dallas.
The channel, which is predominantly focused on local sports, including high school football, basketball, volleyball, wrestling, soccer, softball and baseball produced in Texas about Lone Star State players, teams and schools, is also available in Austin, El Paso, Laredo, the Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio and Wichita Falls.
Deal terms were not disclosed. FS Southwest, which is distributed throughout Texas, previously carried FC Dallas action. "We believe we made a competitive offer that reflected the value of the programming," said Fox Sports in a statement.
In addition to game coverage, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel will present pre- and post-game shows and other dedicated programming about the club.
“FC Dallas games are an outstanding addition to Time Warner Cable SportsChannel’s expanding local sports offering and we’re excited to partner with them to televise games this season,” said Mark Shuken, senior vice president and general manager, TWC Sports Regional Networks, in a statement. “FC Dallas fans are very passionate and Time Warner Cable SportsChannel will be able to give them more access to their favorite team.”
