Time Warner Cable Taps Shuken To Tip Off Lakers Neworks

Publish date:

Mark Shuken has traded oversight of a trio of regional sports networks owned by DirecTV to lead Time Warner Cable's fledgling Los Angeles Lakers services.
Shuken will head up the pair of Lakers RSNs -- one in English, the other a Spanish-language service -- the nation's No. 2 cable operator will tip off before the NBA team tips off its 2012-13 season, according to sources familiar with the move.
Time Warner Cable declined to comment, while DirecTV didn't respond by press time.
Shuken had been serving as president and CEO of DirecTV Sport Networks, a trio of RSNs serving Pittsburgh, Seattle and the Denver markets under the recently rechristened Root Sports banner.
Shuken's hiring follows Time Warner Cable's appointment of David Rone in May as president of the MSO's newly established TWC Sports unit.
