Time Warner to Debut FOD Service

Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey will launch “DTV On Demand” Jan. 5.

The free-video-on-demand service will include programming from BBC America, AOL Music, Cable News Network, Home & Garden Television, The Golf Channel, A&E Television Networks, G4techTV, Comedy Central, Do It Yourself, Food Network and Court TV.

The operator said DTV On Demand will be available free-of-charge beginning Jan. 5 to digital customers in Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, Brooklyn and Mt. Vernon, N.Y., and Bergen and Hudson counties in New Jersey.

Customers in Orange, Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess, Greene and Delaware counties in New York will receive the service shortly thereafter, Time Warner added.

“DTV On Demand offers our customers programming and content from great networks at no additional charge through the On Demand platform, which is exclusive to the cable industry,” Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey president Howard Szarfarc said in a prepared statement.

“Viewers can access this programming on their schedule, when they want it,” he added.

Time Warner Cable of New York and New Jersey serves more than 1.4 million subscribers.
