Time Warner Launches Quick Clips

Time Warner Cable launched a new digital-cable feature that allows subscribers to access short-form video content, including fare produced for the Internet, on their TV sets.

The MSO said its initial launch of Quick Clips in its South Carolina division covers CNBC, CNN and The Weather Channel.

Quick Clips uses Internet-protocol technology and new software to push short-form content created by the participating networks to Time Warner Cable’s Enhanced TV, the operator added.

Viewers are alerted that the feature is available by an on-screen prompt and, by pressing Select on their remotes, a menu will appear showing all Enhanced TV features, such as Quick Clips and Start Over, which allows subscribers to jump to the beginning of a program already in progress.

“Time Warner Cable’s Quick Clips makes short-form, time-sensitive programming, such as news segments and local weather forecasts, available for our customers to view when they want, on their schedule,” Time Warner, senior vice president of on-demand product management Bob Benya said in a prepared statement.
