Scripps Networks said Time Warner Cable will roll out free on-demand content
from its three networks -- Home & Garden Television, Food Network and Do It
Yourself -- as part of the MSO's digital video-on-demand rollout across 30
Scripps will supply 10 hours of content each month from each network. The
company will refresh six hours of content each week.
Scripps had offered its content for between 99 cents and $1.49 in a test on
Time Warner's Cincinnati system, but it will go the free on-demand route
'The customer response to our VOD trials in Cincinnati proved that there is
more than ample interest in our on-demand programming,' said Channing Dawson,
senior vice president of new ventures at Scripps, in a prepared statement.
As for FOD, Dawson said, 'Working with Time Warner in these new markets, we
will work toward defining a viable subscription-video-on-demand model that will
help all of us to move this business forward.'
