Time Warner Rolls Out SeaChange for Insertion

SeaChange International Inc. said Time Warner Cable is rolling out its digital ad-insertion servers in New York, Houston and San Antonio.

The MSO will deploy SeaChange transport-stream inserters and digital-transcoder software to its existing SeaChange analog spot system. The technology can support up to 96 channels of digital ad insertion in each rack. The transcoder software can automatically encode content in a single step for analog, digital or HDTV channels.

"We have a tremendous opportunity to grow the local ad business as the number of digital-cable customers begins to reach a critical mass," said Larry Fischer, president of Time Warner Cable Advertising, in a prepared statement. "We are enabling advertisers looking for niche-programming audiences to reach our most upscale homes."
