Time Warner Taps RAD

Time Warner Cable’s commercial-services division in Texas is using pseudo-wire technology from RAD Data Communications Ltd. to provide T-1 and T-3 interfaces for commercial customers.

As cable companies compete with telcos for business accounts, they are finding that customers still need T-1 and T-3 interfaces to support legacy time-division-multiplexing phone equipment in their networks, said Chuck Sweeney, vice president of business solutions for Time Warner Houston, in a prepared statement.

Sweeney added that the operator is using RAD “TDMoIP” gateways for handling cellular-phone backhaul traffic.
