TiVo Announces Android TV Operator Tier Version of CubiTV

TiVo Corp. has announced an Android TV operator tier version of its CubiTV modular pre-integrated set-top software stack.

CubiTV for Android TV promises TiVo’s operator clients a means of delivering a modern, immersive user experience with an intuitive operator-branded interfaces that exploits Google Assistant search technology.

Product positioning-wise, the new version will sit alongside existing iterations for Linux and mobile, as well as the CubiTV software development kit.

TiVo is putting CubiTV in a competitive juxtaposition, with Arris, Espial, Evolution Digital and a number of other technology vendors already selling Android TV-based video solutions to pay TV operators.

Android TV operator tier solutions have been popular with pay TV providers in Europe, Asia and Latin America, who are looking for cost-effective ways to integrate popular OTT services in the user interfaces they provide to customers.

“TiVo’s CubiTV for Android TV represents the next step in the evolution of our CubiTV products which have been deployed to over 10 million devices worldwide,” said Jakub Gorski, VP of Cubiware Product for TiVo Poland, in a statement. “It enables service providers in EMEA, LATAM and APAC to differentiate their service and achieve their goals for subscriber retention and satisfaction while building a strong foundation for future services in the Android TV ecosystem.”

The product announcement was made ahead of London’s Connected TV World Summit, which is happening Wednesday and Thursday.
