TLC Names Winter EVP, GM

Eileen O'Neill has fortified the executive leadership at TLC.
Shortly after being named group president over both Discovery and TLC, Eileen O'Neill, who had been leading the latter until a restructuring last month, named Amy Winter and Edward Sabin to more senior gigs.
Winter, who had been serving as senior vice president of marketing-creative at the network, was named general manager and executive vice president of TLC. In her new job, Winter will oversee programming, production, development, new media and marketing for TLC.
For his part, Sabin, who had been COO of the network, was named group chief operating officer of Discovery and TLC. In his new job he will have direct oversight for strategy, network operations, financial and business matters for the two networks. He will also be responsible for integrated content, break strategy, research, talent and the company's Continuing Medical Education business.
"Amy and Edward are terrific executives who have been key leaders at TLC over the past several years, playing critical roles in the network's success and rise to a top 10 cable network," said O'Neill in announcing the promotions. "In their new roles, I am confident they will help us to continue building on the strong performances we are currently delivering at the Discovery Channel and TLC, and cultivate even more loyal viewers for these two great brands."
Before joining Discovery in 2005, Winter served as Vice President of On-Air Promotion at TBS, where she led creative direction over all marketing initiatives, was instrumental in the 2004 rebrand to "Very Funny" that solidified the network's positioning, and creating the successful "Movie and a Makeover" franchise.

Prior to joining Discovery in 2007, Sabin was with Fox Television Studios for seven years, where he served as Senior Vice President, Business Development and Operations, and Vice President, Business and Legal Affairs. In these roles, Sabin oversaw the business operations for domestic production groups, and he structured the company's new media production business model. He also devised and implemented business models for international production.
