Cable-TV ad expenditures grew modestly in the first quarter, rising 2.2% compared with the year-ago period, to $3.588 billion from $3.51 billion, according to TNS Media Intelligence.
Overall advertising expenditures were up 5.2% to $34.92 billion from $33.196 billion in the first quarter of 2005.
Internet-display advertising led all media forms in percentage growth, rising 19.4% to $2.312 billion from $1.939 billion, according to TNS.
TNS said the Winter Olympic Games helped to boost network-TV spending to $6.52 billion, up 12.3%.
Spanish-language media also posted a robust increase, up 14.2%to $1.05 billion.
