It’s official now: Turner Network Television was basic cable’s top-ranked
network in primetime during the second quarter.
The drama network's 2.2 rating beat Fox News Channel by 0.2 points, while Nickelodeon,
Disney Channel and last year’s primetime champion, Lifetime Television, tied for
third, each with a 1.7 household average, according to an ABC Cable Networks
Group analysis of Nielsen Media Research data.
Cartoon Network was sixth from the period spanning March 31-June
Rounding out the top 10: USA Network with a 1.5; TBS Superstation at a 1.3;
Cable News Network with a 1.2; and ESPN, A&E Network and The Learning Channel, all with 1.1 ratings.
Going head-to-head with the seven broadcast networks, basic cable saw its
collective primetime ratings reach a 29.8 in the second quarter, good for a 51.2
share and some 31.8 million, according to a Cabletelevision Advertising Bureau
analysis of Nielsen data.

Cable held an 18.3-share-point lead over the broadcasters during that seven-day
span, a 9.9 ratings-point edge (29.7 vs. 19.8) and a 10.6 million-home delivery
advantage (31.7 million, compared with 21.1 million).
