TNT Conjures Salem's Lot Miniseries

Turner Network Television has given the development OK for a miniseries based
on Stephen King's Salem's Lot.

TNT and sister company Warner Bros. Television will co-produce the four-hour
miniseries.

Mark Wolper (TNT's The Mists of Avalon, Thornbirds) will serve
as executive producer of the project, the script for which is being written by
Pete Filardi (Flatliners, The Craft).

A TNT spokesman said information about talent, production timetable and
premiere date was not yet available.

'The epic works of Stephen King have always translated into compelling
television, especially in long-form miniseries,' TNT executive vice president
and general manager Steve Koonin said in a prepared statement.

'We are proud to be continuing our association with Mark Wolper, who
executive-produced highly successful miniseries The Mists of Avalon for
TNT last year,' he added.

That miniseries -- a four-hour take on the Arthurian legend from a distaff
perspective that starred Anjelica Huston, Julianna Margulies and Joan Allen --
averaged a 4.8 household rating during its premiere July 15 and 16,
2001.
