Turner Network Television barely beat out tween-targeted Disney Channel for top basic-cable primetime-ratings honors last week.
The drama network finished the week of April 4-11 with a 2.1 rating, edging out Disney -- which benefited from a strong performance from its April 8 original animated film, Disney’s Kim Possible Movie: So the Drama -- by 0.1 points.
Nick at Nite and Lifetime Television tied for third with 1.9 ratings, while USA Network took the fifth slot with a 1.7. Rounding out the top 10 were Spike TV (1.6), Cartoon Network (1.5) and, tied with 1.3 ratings, TBS, Fox News Channel and Discovery Channel, the latter of which posted a 3.7 rating for its April 10 Supervolcano telemovie.
Nickelodeon outpaced all basic-cable networks on a 24-hour basis during the period with a 1.6 rating, followed by sister service Nick at Nite (1.4). Cartoon and its spinoff late-night block, Adult Swim, both scored 1.2 ratings, while TNT, Disney and Lifetime tied for fifth, each with a 1.1.
On an individual-program basis, Lifetime continued its impressive run of original-movie performances with its April 4 debut of Odd Girl Out, which garnered a 4.4 primetime rating, second only to Spike’s WWE Raw’s 4.5 mark.
