Turner Network Television and NBC have jointly sold 85 percent of the on-air
sponsorship entitlements to their NASCAR Winston Cup coverage, the companies
announced Monday evening.
NBC and TNT, which will cover 20 National Association for Stock Car Auto
Racing Winston Cup auto races, have sold entitlements in 11 of the 13 events with existing title sponsors so
The coverage will start on TNT July 5 with the Pepsi 400 Pole Qualifying
event from Daytona, Fla., and the Pepsi 400 event itself will follow on NBC in
primetime the next night.
Among advertisers signed as title sponsors for other upcoming auto races on
the circuit are Tropicana, Mountain Dew, General Motors Corp.'s Chevrolet Monte
Carlo, Pennzoil-Quaker State Co., The Pep Boys and Applebee's International
Turner Sports Sales executive vice president Keith Cutler said in a prepared
statement that the advertisers have been attracted by 'one of today's hottest
