Getting a boost from its multiplay of theatrical Ocean’s Eleven, Turner Network Television ruled basic cable’s primetime ratings roost last week.
The drama network averaged a 2.4 household rating July 12-18, according to a Disney ABC Cable Networks Group analysis of Nielsen Media Research data. It also finished first among adults 18-49 and 25-54 for the period.
USA Network -- aided by installments from limited series The 4400, detective show Monk and supernatural show The Dead Zone -- was second with a 2.0, while Disney Channel, which scored well with original telepic Stuck in the Suburbs (a 3.0 July 16), was third at a 1.9 for the week.
Lifetime Television was fourth at a 1.7, followed by ESPN, which saw its score lifted by Major League Baseball’s All-Star Home Run Derby July 12, the top-rated show for the span with a 5.7 average.
Rounding out the top 10: Cartoon Network with a 1.6; Nick at Nite, Turner South and TBS, all at a.1.4; and Fox News Channel and Sci Fi Channel -- the latter boosted by the debut of Stargate Atlantis, the highest-rated and most-viewed series in the network’s history -- both with a 1.3.
Gauged on a total-programming-day basis, Nickelodeon was first at a 1.9, well ahead of a 1.3 for both Cartoon and TNT. Nick at Nite and Disney were next, each with a 1.2.
TNT received big numbers from its weekend threeplay of Ocean’s Eleven, which earned 2.9, 2.7 and 2.5 household averages July 18, 17 and 16, respectively.
