TNT's New Caseload: 15-Episode Fourth Season of 'Rizzoli & Isles'

TNT has renewed distaff cop drama Rizzoli & Isles for a fourth campaign.
Starring Angie Harmon as Jane Rizzoli, the tough Boston police detective and Sasha Alexander as Maua Isles, an impeccably dressed medical examiner, the show stands as cable's top returning series, averaging 7.1 million, on a live + 3 basis, in its new Tuesday 9 p.m. time slot, where it is also serving as a lead-in for barrister buddy program Franklin & Bash.
TNT has ordered 15 more installments from Warner Horizon Television, with the new season slated to bow in 2013.
"Anchoring a new night in its third season, Rizzoli & Isles has proven itself to be a strong and enduring hit, not only in terms of the great storylines and performances, but also in terms of the show's stellar ratings," said Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies, in announcing the order. "We're thrilled that Rizzoli & Isles will continue to be a vital part of the TNT lineup."

Rizzoli & Isles, benefiting from The Closer as its lead-in, premiered in 2010 with basic-cable's biggest ad-supported series launch ever, while averaging a record 8.8 million viewers during its first season and more than 8.4 million in its second. Moving to a new night this summer, the show has averaged 7.1 million viewers on a live + 3 scale, with the season premiere climbing to 8 million viewers from a live + 7 view. Cable's top returning scripted series among total viewers, the show has averaged 2 million persons 18 to 49 and 2.5 million adults 25 to 54 on a live +3 measure.
