Toshiba America Information Systems Inc.’s Digital Solutions Division introduced its 802.11g-enabled "PCX4500 Wireless Cable Modem Gateway" at the Western Show Wednesday.
The PCX4500 is Toshiba’s first home-networking solution to contain an 802.11g wireless router.
The modem is CableHome 1.1-based and Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification 2.0-based, and it includes Internet-security technology from Jungo Software Technologies.
It also includes a 10/100 port and Texas Instruments Inc.'s "TurboDOXTM" bandwidth-acceleration software.
The PCX4500 will be available to MSOs and cable operators in the first quarter of 2004 at a suggested retail price of $129.
