Toshiba America Information Systems Inc. is the latest modem-maker to gain a
spot on Cox Communications Inc.'s preferred-vendor list.
Toshiba's 'PCX2500' Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification
1.1-certified cable modem earned Cox's stamp of approval for use in its cable
'Tests conducted by Cox engineers and feedback from system managers across
the country made it clear that Toshiba's PCX DOCSIS modems are some of the
highest-quality cable modems available today,' Cox vice president of data
engineering Jay Rolls said.
'Toshiba's DOCSIS 1.1-enabled modems will help Cox to continue to offer
subscribers the latest in next-generation broadband services,' he added.
Toshiba is shipping PCX modems to Cox systems, and the units are also
available through retail chains including CompUSA and Best Buy Co. Inc.
The electronics maker joined Motorola Inc. on the list of preferred vendors
for Atlanta-based Cox. The modems will be part of the MSO's next-generation data
