The total global TV market is in for a slow decline, but new 4K-capable sets offer a ray of hope for set-makers.
TV sales are expected to drop 2% in 2015, but 4K TV shipments are poised to rise by 147%, surging past 30 million units, Futuresource Consulting predicted in its latest forecast.
While 30 million might seems like a big round number, it’s still a drop in the bucket, as total global TV sales hit 235 million units in all of 2014.
But 4K’s picture will improve vastly in the years ahead, and account for roughly 45% of TV shipments by 2019.
