Viacom's Tr3s: MTV, Música y Más has partnered with
ourstage.com for the return of Dame un Break, a talent competition for aspiring Latino artists. The contest
launched May 14 and is being presented by Wendy's as title sponsor.
Through the deal, whose financials were not disclosed, Tr3s
is asking Latino aspiring artists to submit their material directly on
dameunbreak.tr3s.com. Contestants have until June 18 to submit material and the
voting period for the finalists will run from July 2-16. A winner will be
announced in late July.
The online contest is powered by ourstage.com, a
music-centric social networking site that, according to Tr3s, reaches about 17
million users. It is the second time the cable network has partnered with
ourstage.com. The first collaboration was a contest with Juanes, which drew
over 350,000 votes online.
According to Tr3s general manager José Tillán, in addition
to a cash prize, the winner will be featured across several Tr3s screens and
will be the star of a "Making of" 6-week marketing campaign. Grammy
Award-winning producer Sebastián Cruz will produce a music video, which will
air for several weeks, and will feature the Wendy's brand.
