Tr3s Preps First-Ever Mexican Regional 'Unplugged'

Better late than never.

Viacom's Hispanic
youth-oriented network Tr3s: MTV Música y Más is embracing regional Mexican
music by launching its first-ever Unplugged
special featuring regional Mexican music. The ultra-popular norteno band Los Tigres del Norte will
be featured in a special show premiering May 22 at 8 p.m. (ET).

The special, MTV Unplugged: Los Tigres del Norte &
Friends
, was taped Feb. 8 at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles. It
features the Grammy-Award winning norteño
ensemble as it is joined by other popular, non-regional Mexican artists,
including Paulina Rubio, Diego Torres, Andres Calamaro and Calle 13's Rene, as
well as Colombian sensation Juanes.

It is the first time MTV's Unplugged series has featured a regional
Mexican and it is expected to be a ratings and revenue success.

An album and DVD of the
unprecedented concert is expected in stores May 24and will travel
abroad when MTV Unplugged: Los Tigres del
Norte
premieres on MTV Latin America, VH1 Latin America and MTV Spain.
