Travel Channel Media has launched Travel Channel Studios, a full-service production unit that will create customized, short-form video for use across any platform.
Moreover, Travel Channel Studios announced its first client deal, inking a pact with Yahoo! Travel to license and produce videos featuring their 100 top destinations and custom feature videos.
Travel Channel has been producing genre videos since 1987 and its content is available in multiple formats, providing partners with flexible formats that can be used to create sponsored vignettes and original Webisodes. Travel Channel Studios' business model offers unique efficiencies that ensure on-time and on-budget completion of campaigns, and the networks extensive online, mobile and VOD reach can be leveraged to get partners' messages out to multiple audiences, according to officials.
"Research shows that consumers are increasingly being influenced by video when researching travel information," said Travel Channel vice president of short-form content Sue Norton in a statement. "With the largest library of travel video in the world covering 360 countries, and an ultra low-cost business model for producing video through assets like our Travel Channel Academy graduates, the Travel Channel is the unrivaled leader in quality travel video."
"Yahoo! Travel is one of the most widely visited consumer research and planning websites in the travel space, so it's a natural for us to partner as we launch this new business division," said Adam Sutherland, vice president of business development, Travel Channel. "This is another opportunity to expand our touch points with consumers by providing them the travel video they desire, while further driving industry awareness of the Travel Channel brand and the video capabilities of our studios division."
